IN RE: SALE OF FOOD STAMPS THROUGH ALL POST OFFICES IN
OAKLAND COUNTY
TO THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
Mr. Chairman, Ladies and Gentlemen:
WHEREAS many Oakland County low-income families and senior
citizens must travel 25 or more miles to purchase food stamp coupons semi-
monthly; and
WHEREAS the U.S. Postal Service-has numerous convenient locations
with appropriate security facilities;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the U.S. Postal Service, the
U. S. Department of Agriculture, and the Michigan Department of Social
Services be requested to designate Oakland County, Michigan, as a pilot project
area to implement the sale of food stamp coupons through all post offices in
Oakland County at the earliest date possible.
