Gabler, Jr., Chairman IN RE: SALE OF FOOD STAMPS THROUGH ALL POST OFFICES IN OAKLAND COUNTY TO THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS Mr. Chairman, Ladies and Gentlemen: WHEREAS many Oakland County low-income families and senior citizens must travel 25 or more miles to purchase food stamp coupons semi- monthly; and WHEREAS the U.S. Postal Service-has numerous convenient locations with appropriate security facilities; NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the U.S. Postal Service, the U. S. Department of Agriculture, and the Michigan Department of Social Services be requested to designate Oakland County, Michigan, as a pilot project area to implement the sale of food stamp coupons through all post offices in Oakland County at the earliest date possible. The Human Resources Committee, by Wallace F. Gabler, Jr., Chairman, Moves the adoption of the foregoing resolution. HUMAN RESOURCES COMMITTEE #6323 Moved by Gabler supported by Burley Discussion followed. the resolution be adopted. Moved by Houghten supported by Hobart the resolution be referred back to the Committee for a report at the next meeting of the Board. A sufficient majority having voted therefor, the motion carried.
