Hoot, Chairman IN RE: COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT FAIR HOUSING TRAINING TO THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS Mr. Chairperson, Ladies and Gentlemen: WHEREAS, there are persons who believe they have been discriminated against in their efforts to obtain housing; and WHEREAS, these persons may apply to the local governmental unit to obtain information and assistance in resolution of their perceived alleged housing discriminatory treatment; and WHEREAS, staff members of local units of government can be of assistance to citizens by serving as an information and referral resource; and WHEREAS, the County as a recipient of Community Development funds must provide assurance that it will take those actions necessary to affirmatively further fair housing in the sale or rental of housing, the financing of housing, and the provision of brokerage services; and WHEREAS, the Fair Housing Center has developed a fair housing training program in cooperation with the Michigan Civil Rights Commission and the Department of Housing and Urban Development; and WHEREAS, this program is currently being conducted in an efficient and professional manner in the Wayne County area; and WHEREAS, this activity is a recommended and eligible expenditure of Community Development funds and funds are currently available from unexpended prior year allocations. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Chairperson of the Oakland County Board of Commissioners execute the necessary agreement with the Fair Housing Center for the design and implementation of the fair housing training and referral program to be completed within a twelve (12) month period at a cost not to exceed $25,400. The Public Services Committee by Henry William Hoot, Chairman, moves the adoption of the foregoing resolution. Allen, Clerk of the County of Oakland and having a seal, do hereby certify that I have compared the annexed copy of Miscellaneous Resolution #8908 adopted by the Oakland County Board of Commissioners at their meeting held on April 5, 1979 with the original record thereof now remaining in my office, and that it is a true and correct transcript therefrom, and of the whole thereof.
