HOBART, CHAIRPERSON IN RE: SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT - AUTHORIZATION TO RECEIVE BIDS - JAIL EXPANSION TO THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS Mr. Chairperson, Ladies and Gentlemen: WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners is operating under a Consent Judgment which requires that certain steps be taken to relieve overcrowded conditions at the Jail; and WHEREAS, by Miscellaneous Resolution 85247, an architectural firm was hired to complete all design work for a Jail addition through the preparation of bidding documents; and WHEREAS, such documents have been satisfactorily completed and are on file with the Department of Central Services; and WHEREAS, the construction work detailed in those documents has been estimated to cost $13,776,679; and WHEREAS, architectural fees, reimbursable expenses, and full-time supervision for the bidding and construction phases of the project have been estimated to be $242,000; and WHEREAS, considerable lead time is required for the delivery of air- conditioning equipment; and WHEREAS, both existing and new cells could be retrofit with air-conditioning in time for the 1987 cooling season if such equipment were to be pre-purchased immediately. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Oakland County Board of Commissioners does and hereby authorizes the Department of Central Services to advertise the subject project for bids, receive bids, and report thereon upon receipt and tabulation of such bids. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Commissioners does and hereby authorizes the Department of Central Services to advertise and receive separate bids for the air-conditioning equipment and report separately thereon upon receipt and tabulation of such bids. *s! BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Oakland County Board of Commissioners does and hereby authorizes the joint venture architectural firm of Neumann, Greager, and Associates and Henningson, Durham, and Richardson to provide architectural services, including full-time representation, through completion of the project and occupancy by the County. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that $242,000 be appropriated to cover estimated architectural fees, associated reimbursable expenses, and full-time supervision for these phases of the project.
