IN RE: Department of Transportation, State of Michigan, Excess Property in
City of Southfield - Property Management Division
TO THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
Mr. Chairperson, Ladies and GentloH -1:
WHEREAS the Department of Transportation, State of Michigan, owns excess
property (C/S 63101, Parcels 96, 97, 101 Part C) in the City of Southfield,
described as:
All that" part of Lots 47 and 48 of Supervisor's Plat No. 2, City of
Southiiold, Oakland County, Michigan, as recorded in Liber 52, pages 50
and 507 : Oakland County Records, and that part of the Northwest 1/4
of Section 17, TIN, RIOT, City of Southfield, Oakland County, Michif•n,
lying South of Northwestern Highway, and which lies Northerly anC
of a line described as: P:c.:;inning at a point in the center of Franklin
Road (so-called) which. is ':,or1h 01 deg. 78' 34" West a distance of 57.87
feet and North 43 deg. 17' 04" West, a distance of 262.45 feet from the
West 1/4 corner of said Section 17; thence North 34 deg. 57' 09" East a
distance of 76.43 feet; thence North 86 deg. 29' 39" East a distance of
320.99 feet; thence North 70 deg. 04' 23" East a distance of 739.11 feet;
thence North 19 deg. 28' 52" West a distance of 68.71 feet; thence North
38 deg. 05' 05" West a distance of 387.69 feet to the Southerly Right-of
Way line of Northwestern Highway and a point of faiding. EXCEPTING THERE-
FROM the Southwesterly 17 feet of said Lots 173 48, also excepting a
parcel of land described as Beginning at a 1n Fit on the Southerly line
of Northwestern Highway which is North. 00 deg. 05' 31" East a distance
of 1275.41 feet and South 61 deg. 47' 42" East a distance of 5551 feet
from the West. 1/4 corner of said Section 17; thence South 61 47'
42" East, a distance of 120 feet; thence South 00 deg. 05' 31" Wnst a
distance of 90 feet; thence North 61 deg. 47' 42" West a distah(c. of 120
feet; thence North 00 deg. 05' 31" East a distance of 60 feet to the point
of beginning, also excepting a parcel. of land described as:
Commencing at the West 1/4 corner of said Section 17, running
North. 0 deg. 05' 31" East along West line of said Section, a
distance of 459.16 feet for point of beginning; thence North 0
deg. 05' 31" East along said West line, 816.25 feet to the
South line. of Northwestern Highway (204 feet wide); thence
South 61 deg. 47' 42" East along said South line. of Northwestern
Highway (201 feat wide) a distance of 500 feet; thence Sof. k -
deg. 05' 31" Weflt, 580.61 feet; thence North 89 deg. 54'
West, 441 feet to the place of beginning,
also reserving therefrom a 20 foot drainage easement lying over and across
a strip of land which lies 10 feet each side of and adjacent to a linu.
described as: Beginning at a point which is North 0 deg. 05' 31" East a
distance of 459.16 feet, South. 89 deg. 54' 29" fast a distance of 441 feet
and North 0 deg. 05' 31" East a distance of 256 'eet from the West 1/4

There shall be no Hight of direct ingress or egress from I-6'm
Northwestern 1 and fianklin Road to, from and between the lands
herein described,
WHEREAS the Department of transportation, State of Michlgan, has determined
that the afbrodeStribed property is excess to highway needs; and

WHEREAS Department of Transportation's property procedure provides that
local governmental units be given a chance to indicate their interest in the purchase
of the property at current market value, prior to of the property for sale to
the general public; and
WITPT",S Der-17L•itnt of Transportation's procedure further provides that the
conveyancei- for land s•,1d under these conditions carry a ten (10) year reverter
covenant tying the use of the property to fit public uses; and
WHEREAS the Property Management DIGision and your Planning and Building
Committee have reviewed the described property and finds no County need.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Oakland County Board of Comfmissioners
not respond to the Department of Transportation's correspondence whereby failure to
respond will he takcn as an indication that the County of Oakland is not interested
in the purchase of This property.
Mr. Chairperson on behalf of the Planning and Building Committee, I move
the adoption of the foregoing resolution.
