HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutions - 1983.12.08 - 11501Miscellaneous Resolution # 83380 BY: RE: RECOGNITION OF BILL OF RIGHTS DAY TO THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS Mr. Chairperson, Ladies and Gentlemen: WHEREAS, the preservation of civil rights and civil liberties is the hallmark of advanced civilized society; and WHEREAS, much of our rights and liberties are embodied within the first ten amendments to the Constitution of the United States of America and is commonly referred to as the Bill of Rights; and WHEREAS, December 15 of each year is commonly recognized as Bill of Rights Day; and WHEREAS, the preservation and enhancement of the Bill of Rights should be a basic consideration for every public body in a free society. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that this Board of Commissioners of the County of Oakland does hereby proclaim and celebrate December 15, 1983 as Bill of Rights Day in this County and does hereby proclaim publicly our collective support of the rights and liberties of individuals embodied within the Constitution of the United States of America and within the Constitution of the State of Michigan. / f Dennis M.
