Chairperson, Ladies and Gentlemen: WHEREAS, the Computer Services Department requires an expansion of room space to house the addition of nine (9) disc storage units; and WHEREAS, it will be necessary to expand the room by acquirino and renovating office and storage areas adjacent to the present computer room; and WHEREAS, it will also be necessary to build a 300 square foot addition to the building to house the power management system which was authorized for purchase by Miscellaneous Resolution 382172; and WHEREAS, it is estimated that the cost of these two (2) projects will he $40,000.00. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Department of Central Services he and is hereby authorized to receive bids for the described renovations and a report thereon be made to this Board after receipt and tabulation of such bids. There will be some wall demolition and new wall construction but the major item of work will be the installation of additional raised computer flooring. As with any job near computer equipment, dust control and debris removal will be important considerations. The preliminary estimate for this phase of the project is $16,000. Related to the above work, but handled as a separate project, would be the construction of a small addition to house the power management system. The purchase of this equipment was authorized by Miscellaneous Resolution 82172. It is intended to provide a uniform and constant electric service by smoothing out the "peaks and valleys" in the current. The proposed addition consists of approximately 300 square feet (20 feet by 15 feet) with a slab on grade, three insulated metal walls, and a roof. Estimated cost is $24,000. Funding in the amount of $180,000 is available in the 1933 Capital Improvement Program under the line entitled Administrative Annex I Remodeling.
