Peterson, Chairperson IN RE Resolution #9376, Proposed Reduction of Hospital Beds in Michigan TO THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS Mr. Chairperson, Ladies and Gentlemen: The Health & Human Resources committee having reviewed Resolution #9376, Proposed Reduction of Hospital Beds in Michigan, reports with the recommendation that this resolution be adopted. Peterion, Chairperson t MARCH 27, IV8u MISCELLANEOUS RESOLUTION BY Joseph R, Montante, M.D., County Commissioner, District #26 IN RE: PROPOSED REDUCTION OF HOSPITAL BEDS IN MICHIGAN TO THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS Mr. Chairperson, Ladies and Gentlemen: WHEREAS, the Michigan State Legislature did enact Public Act 368, which includes in Section 22 I54, provisions for reduction of hospital beds? and WHEREAS, the formation of a plan to eliminate excess hospital capacity in this region is an extremely complicated and difficult task; and WHEREAS, certain criteria and standards used to evaluate hospitals and to determine bed reduction responsibility have been found to be inadequate, inappropriate and unworkable; and WHEREAS, inadequate provisions have been made for problems caused by implementation of the plan for aiternative methods of care which may be needed by the community; and WHEREAS, the above could lead to the potential threat to the health and welfare of the population of southeastern Michigan, NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Oakland County Board at Commissioners objects to the proposed decisions at the bed reduction plan of CHPC-SEM as not being in the best interest of the population, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Oakland County Board of Commissioners supports any effort toward the repeal of Section 22 154 at P.A. 368 by the legislature of the State of Mich igan MR.
