Dunaskiss, Chairperson IN RE: Resolution 4 9393, SEMTA (Southeastern Michigan Transportation Authority) Board Appointment Procedures TO THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS Mr. Chairperson, Ladies and Gentlemen: The General Government Committee having reviewed Miscellaneous Resolution .119393 reports with the recommendation that this resolution be adopted with the following changes made in the NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, to provide of the three members selected by the County Board of Commissioners, two shall be members selected by the the majority political caucus and one by the minority political caucus. The General Government Committee by Mat J. Dunaskiss, Chairperson, moves the acceptance of the foregoing report. GENERAL GOVERNMENT COMMITTEE Mat J. Dunaskiss, County Commissioner, District #3 IN RE: SEMTA (Southeastern Michigan Transportation Authority) Board Appointment Procedure TO THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS Mrc, Chairperson, Ladies and Gentlemen: WHEREAS Act .2-69 of the Public Acts of 1967 as amended, is Inconsistent in prescribing the appointment procedure of SENTA Board 'membership in the three major counties; and WHEREAS the SEMTA Board members in Wayne and Macomb counties ail are selected by their respective boards of commissioners while the Oakland County Board of Commissioners selects lust one SEMTA Board member with the other two being selected by SEMCOG (Southeastern Michigan Council of Governments). NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Oakland County Board of Commissioners supports an amendment to Act 209 of the Public Acts of 7967 as amended ,requiring the Oakland County Board of Commissioners to select all three SEMTA Board members, thus correctinn the existing inconsistency. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this resolution be sent t'o all senators and representatives from Oakland County and to the legislotive agent. Mr. Chairperson, I move the adoption of the foregoing resolution, Mat J. Dunaskiss, County Commissioner District #3 Er #9393 May 22, 1980 Moved by Dunaskiss supported by Peterson the resolution be referred back to the General Government Committee. A sufficient majority having voted therefor, the motion carried.
