Unfortunately, these attempts have resulted in considerably less than adequate funding to fill your requests for the installation of sirens within your respective community. Inasmuch as your request has been outstanding for some time, and in light of the fact that prospects for future Federal funding remain questionable at best, this office is interested in ascertaining your willingness to provide for additional funding of this project (up to seventy-five percent). It is estimated that under this arrangement, the local share will be approxi- mately $6,750 per siren, with the County to pick up the remain- ing twenty-five percent. Under this arrangement it has also been suggested that the County would retain ownership and be responsible for maintaining the sirens. If you are willing to participate within the program, under the aforementioned conditions, please advise this office no later than May 30. Response will be forwarded to the Board of Commis- sioners for information purposes, at which time I would anticipate a decision will be made relative to the County's future involve- ment. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at 858-5300. Very truly yours, Gary T.
