HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutions - 1980.10.02 - 121400 Cr-..7::.'“,'!" 2nd, 1980 REPORT BY: General Government Committee, Mat J, Dunaskiss, Chairperson IN RE: Resolution #9545, Road Improvements to Joslyn Road TO THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS Mr, Chairperson, Ladies and GentIemen: The General Government Committee having reviewed Resolution #9545, Road improvements to Joslyn Road, reports with the recommendation that the be adopted with the following amendment: that in the "NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED" 1, that it read "state" (add) and federal "funding for the needed improvements to Joslyn Road." MR. CHAIRPERSON, on behalf of the General Government Committee, ve the adoption of the foregoing report. GENERAL GOVERNMENT COMMITTEE Ti ccn Fl 7 4, 1980 9545 MISC. RES. RE: ROAD IMPROVEMENTS TO JOSLYN ROAD BY: WALTER MOORE, Cortunissioner District #7, and Hubert Price, Jr., Commissioner District #8 TO: THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS Mr. Chairman, Ladies and Gentlemen: WHEREAS, the Oakland County Board of Commission has by Resolution dated September 4, 1980, approved the funding of road iml:ovements necessitated by the construction of a new General Motors Corporation facility in Orion Township in an amount not to exceed $1,000,000.00, and WHEREAS, in addition to those planned road improvements to Giddings Road, Silver Bell Road and Brown Road, there is an urgent need to improve a 1.9 mile section of Joslyn Road (between Walton and 1-75) to accommodate the increased traffic volume which will be generated by the new General Motors facility, and WHEREAS, the Oakland County Road Commission favors the inclusion of the wldening of Joslyn Road from two to four cc... ...in this 1.9 mile sectier at an estimated cost of $2,125,000 in the agreement ., to be signed by the Co.r,H.., of and the Oakland County Road Commission with the Michigan Department of Transportation. NOW THEREFORE SE IT RESOLVED that the Oakland County Board of Commissioners does 2.PH/ request the active participation of all its legislators to work with the Michigan Department of Transportation and the Governor of Michigan to secure the n.•esary state funding for the needed improvements to Joslyn Road. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that certified copies of resolution be forwarded to all State Legislators representing Oakland Coun: and the Michiqan Department. of Transportation. A sufficient majority having voted therefor, the motion carried. Moved by Dunaskiss supported by Moore the resolution be amended in the NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED paragraph to add the words "and federal" after "state" so it would read "state and federal funding for the needed improvements to Joslyn Road". A sufficient majority having voted therefor, the amendment carried. Vote on resolution as amended: AYES: Gabler, Hobart, Hoot, Kasper, Lewand, McDonald, Moffitt, Montante, Moore, Murphy, Page, Patterson, Perinoff, Pernick, Price, Roth, Wilcox, Caddell, DiGiovanni, Doyon, Dunaskiss, Fortino.
