HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutions - 1979.08.09 - 12249909 6 Date August 9, 1979 Miscellaneous Resolution BY: PUBLIC SERVICES OOMMITTEE - Henry William Hoot, Chairman IN RE: Authorization for Expenditure of FY78 Carry Forward Balance for Title II FY79 Oakland University Intern Work Experience Program Contract TO THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS: Mr. Chairperson, Ladies and Gentlemen: WHEREAS the Oakland County Board of Cbmmissioners by Miscellaneous Resolution NO. 6546 applied for and was granted the designation as Prime Sponsor by the U. S. Department of Labor to administer the provisions of the Cbmprehensive Employment and Training Act of 1973; and WHEREAS the FY79 Title II Plan was approved by the Oakland County Board of Commissioners by Resolution No. 8609; and WHEREAS the Oakland University Intern Work Experience Program FY78 contract for $160,379 to be expended between October 1, 1977 and Sept ember 30, 1978 resulted in for- feiture of $46,215; and WHEREAS the forfeiture of $46,215 was to be added to the FY79 allocation of $160,000, to be expended between October 1, 1978 and September 30, 1979; NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Oakland County Board of Commissioners approve the addition of $46,215 in FY78 forfeitable dollars to the FY79 allocation of $160,000 for a total of $206,215, the amount of their FY79 contract. The Public Services Committee, by Henry William Hoot, Chairman, moves the adoption of the foregoing resolution. /APPROVE THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION —oolL' OAKLAND COUNTY PUBLIC SERVICES DEPARTMENT EMPLOYMENT AND TRAINING DIVISION WORK EXPERIENCE STUDENT INTERN PROGRAM FY 1979 The FY79 Oakland University Student Intern Work Experience Program provides 30 part-time jobs for upper class or graduate status students in good academic standing at the University. Each job will be at work sites within Oakland County Government. This program is designed to complement the academic train- ing of students ready to enter the labor force with actual on-the-job experience in their chosen vocations. While Oakland University's FY79 Work Experience Student Intern Contract calls for $206,215, the Oakland County Board of Commissioners has authorized only $160,000. The purpose of this resolution, then, is to obtain the Public Services Committee's approval of and recommendation to the Board of Commissioners for authorization to add $46,215 to Oakland University's FY79 Student Intern Program allocation of $160,000. S. Department of Labor to administer the provisions of the Comprehensive Employment and Training Act of 1973; and WHEREAS, the Oakland County C.E.T.A. Title It Plan budget estimate allocated by the Department of Labor is $6,083,509. for fiscal year 1979; and Giirm WHEREAS, the past effectiveness of our Title I Plan during fiscal year- 1978 indicates that approximately one third of the enrollees placed in the State of Michigan were placed as a direct result of the Oakland County Prime Sponsor which received one tenth of the total funding for the State of Michigan. NOW 'THEREFORE BE IT RSSOLVED that the attached Title II Plan and budgets be approved, contingent upon. appropriations from the Department of Labor. The Public Services Carmittee, by Henry William Hoot, Chairman, moves the adoption of the foregoing resolution.
