HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutions - 1979.06.07 - 12356FISCAL NOTE BY: FINANCE COMMITTEE, DENNIS MURPHY, CHAIRPERSON IN RE: MISCELLANEOUS RESOLUTION #8993 - TORNADO SIREN PROGRAM - COUNTY/LOCAL UNITS AGREEMENTS TO THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS Mr. Chairperson, Ladies and Gentlemen: Pursuant to Rule XI-C of this Board, the Finance Committee has reviewed Miscellaneous Resolution #8993 and finds: 1) The $8,000 required as the County grant match has been appropriated by Miscellaneous Resolution #8866; no additional appropriation is required, 2) The written agreements between the County and local units of government that were required for release of funds have been obtained. HOOT, Chairperson IN RE: TORNADO SIREN PROGRAM - COUNTY/LOCAL UNITS AGREEMENTS TO THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS Chairperson, Ladies and Gentlemen: WHEREAS the Oakland County Board of Commissioners by Miscel- laneous Resolution #8866 accepted the Tornado Siren Program third year grant award in the amount of $16,000 for new sirens; and WHEREAS the Oakland County Board of Commissioners per Miscel- laneous Resolution #7865 stipulated that County and Federal funds could not be allocated until signed agreements between local units of govern- ment and the County had been secured; and WHEREAS such agreements have been secured; NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Oakland County Board of Commissioners authorizes the purchase of three (3) additional sirens consistent with the attached budget schedule, and; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Oakland County Board of Comm- issioners authorizes an amount not to exceed $8,000 for the County's share of the cost. The Public Services Committee, by Henry William Hoot, Chair- person, moves the adoption of the foregoing resolution. "Municipality"; tered into this twelfth day of March, 1979, , a Michigan Constitutional Corporation, and the CITY OF TROY, hereinafter called • E , PURCHASE AGREEMENT WHEREAS, the County has established a centrally activated tornado warning system; and WHEREAS, the Municipality desires to become a part of such system, NOW THEREFORE, in consideration of the sum of $25,650.00 to be paid by the Municipality to the County, the County agrees to install ten (10) sirens within the Municipality at locations to be designated by the Municipality. Said sum to be paid within Thirty Days after installation and successful testing of equipment. IT IS FURTHER AGREED AND UNDERSTOOD that the sirens shall be owned by the County. IT IS YURTHER AGREED AND UNDERSTOOD that the maintenance and electrical costs of the sirens shall be borne by the County. This Agreement shall terminate One Year from above date. This Agreement and costs shown are subject to change depending upon selection of siren location by the Municipality, bid costs, inflationary trends and the availability of Federal matching funds (50% of the cost of the sirens purchased and installation).
