AGREEMENTS - TOWNSHIP DEPUTIES - APRIL 1, 1979-MARCH 31, 1980
TO THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
Mr. Chairperson, Ladies and Gentlemen:
WHEREAS it is the policy of the Oakland County Board of Commissioners
to permit the Sheriff Department to enter into contracts with Townships
for the purpose of providing Sheriff Patrol Services; and
WHEREAS Miscellaneous Resolution #7463 directed the Department of Manage-
ment and Budget to establish new contract rates not later than March 1 of each
ensuing year; and
WHEREAS such rates have been established by the Department of Management
and Budget for the Townships' fiscal year, April 1, 1979 through March 31, 1980,
consistent with the attached schedules.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the annual rate of $32,448 be established
as the annual cost per patrolman for the purpose of Law Enforcement Patrol
Services for the fiscal year beginning April 1, 1979, such cost to be billed
in monthly increments.
The Public Services Committee, by Henry W. Hoot, Chairperson, moves the
adoption of the foregoing resolution.

I. _SALARY
Regular salary starting with base . of $18,448, median salary rate $19,838 and
maximum salary rate $21,228 which -is taken in a four year period.
These rates are based on average salary increases.
OVERTIME RATE
$18,448 = $ 8.87 per hour x 1.5 = $13.31 per hour
$19,838 = $ 9.54 per hour x 1.5 = $14.31 per hour
$21,228 = $10.21 per hour x 1.5 = $15.32 per hour
COURT APPEARANCE
Based on average number of hours per year per deputy
Base - 40 hours x $13.31 = $532.40
Median - 40 hours x $14.31 = $572.40
Maximum - 40 hours x $15.32 = $612.80
HOLIDAY PAY
Based on the eleven (11) paid County holidays per year.
Base - 88 hours p $13.31 per hour = $1,171.28
Median - 88 hours @ $14.31 per hour = $1,259.28
Maximum - 88 hours p $15.32 per hour = $1,348.16
SICK LEAVE
The average number of sick leave days taken per patrolman is approximately 8 days
per year. Cost represents fill in cost at straight time while deputy is on sick
leave.
Base - 64 hours x $ 8.87 = $567.68
Median - 64 hours x $ 9.54 = $610.56
Maximum - 64 hours x $10.21 = $653.44
ANNUAL LEAVE
This is based on actual number of vacation days earned by each deputy. Costs
represent fill in cost at straight time while deputy is on annual leave.
Base - (10 days) 80 hours x $ 8.87 = $ 709.60
Median - (12 days) 96 hours x $ 9.54 = $ 915.84
Maximum - (15 days) 120 hours x $10.21 = $1,225.20
II FRINGE BENEFITS
This is the County's portion. of F.I.C.A. payable.
Base - 6.13% of $18,448 = $1,130.86
Median - 6.13% of $19,838 = $1,216.07
Maximum - 6.13% of $21,228 = $1,301.28
RETIREMENT
This is based on 10.45% of total salary. This is the actual 1979 County Contribution
per the latest pension actuary (16.45% less 6% deputy contribution)
