Miscellaneous Resolution 8723 November 30, 1978 BY: PUBLIC SERVICES COMMITTEE - Henry William Hoot, Chairman IN RE: Request to Extend Federal Supplement to CETA Participant Wage Limit TO THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS: Mr. Chairman, Ladies and Gentlemen: WHEREAS the Oakland County Board of Comissioners by Miscellaneous Resolution #6546 applied for and was granted the designation as Prime Sponsor by the U.S. Department of Labor to administer the provisions of the Comprehen- sive Employment and Training Act of 1973; and WHEREAS the new CETA legislation allows a maximum wage payment of $10,000 to $12,000 dependent upon wage index for participants, however, Section 609 allows a waiver where the standard metropolitan statistical area (SMSA) average wage is at least 125% of the national average wage; and WHEREAS the Detroit SMSA average wage is 128% of the national average and Oakland County as Prime Sponsor is a part of the Detroit SMSA; and WHEREAS the new CETA legislation provides for an increase of 20% in the federally supported CETA maximum wage to a limit of $14,400 ($12,000 + 20%). NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Oakland County Board of Commis- sioners request that the Department of Labor allow Oakland County to extend its federally supported wages by 20% as provided in Section 609 of the Comprehensive Employment and Training Act of 1978. The Public Services Committee, by Henry William Hoot, Chairman, moves the adoption of the foregoing resolution. t Moved by Moxley supported by DiGiovanni the Board reconsider the vote taken on Miscellaneous Resolution #8723 at the November 30, 1978 meeting. AYES: Roth, Simson, Wilcox, Aaron, Daly, DiGiovanni, Doyon, Fortino, Gabler, Gorsline, Hoot, Kasper, Kelly, Lanni, McConnell, McDonald, Moffitt, Montante, Moxley, Murphy, Olson, Page, Pernick, Peterson, Price. (25) NAYS: None. (0) A sufficient majority having voted therefor, the motion carried. Moved by Hoot supported by Simson the resolution be referred to the Public Services Committee. There were no objections.
