HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutions - 1978.12.21 - 12642December 21, 1978 MISCELLANEOUS RESOLUTION # 8746 BY: PUBLIC SERVICES COMMITTEE IN RE: CULTURAL COUNCIL GRANT APPLICATION TO THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS Mr. Chairman, Ladies and Gentlemen: WHEREAS the Oakland County Board of Commissioners, by Miscellaneous Resolution #7003, created the Oakland County Cultural Council; and WHEREAS the Michigan Council for the Arts will provide matching grants up to a maximum of twenty (20) percent of local support for the period of October 1, 1979 through September 30, 1980; and WHEREAS it is in the interest of Oakland County to apply for these matching funds. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Oakland County Board of Commissioners authorizes the filing of a grant application with the Michigan Council for the Arts, consistent with the attached budget. The Public Services Committee, by William T. Patterson, Vice- Chairman, moves the adoption of the foregoing resolution. KASPER, CHAIRPERSON IN RE: OAKLAND COUNTY CULTURAL COUNCIL GRANT APPLICATION TO THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS Mr. Chairperson, Ladies and Gentlemen: The Finance Committee has reviewed the Cultural Council Grant and finds: 1) The Grant covers a period of October 1, 1979 through September 30, 1980. 2) Total program costs are anticipated to be $99,950, of which $36,000 represents cash costs and $63,350 is in-kind services. 3) It is anticipated the cash cost will be covered by a $19,975 grant from the Michigan Council for the Arts, $13,875 appropriation in the County's 1980 Budget and $2,750 revenues generated from Cultural Council activities. 4) The $63,350 in-kind services consist of $22,100 County staff time and materials, and $41,250 in time and materials donated by in- terested Oakland County citizens. A complete cost and revenue breakdown and comparison to current program is provided in the attached schedules. The Finance Committee recommends this program be held to current fiscal year levels as shown on the attached schedules. The Finance committee, by Paul E. Kasper, Chairperson, recommends acceptance of the foregoing report, and the referral of the information contained herein to the Public Services Committee in accordance with Miscellaneous Resolution #8145 - Federal and State Grant Procedures.
