HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutions - 1978.07.06 - 127058528 , J u ly 6, 1978 RESOLUTION OF COMMENDATION C.I..TON VALLEY CENTER and Gentlemen WHErES, the Clinton Valley Center, first known as the Eastern Michigan Asylum and later as Pontiac State Hospital, was officially opened August 1, 1878, and Clinton Valley Center has over the past 100 years striven to bring innovative and enlightened treatment to its patients; and WHEREAS, from its inception this facility has had the support of the citizens of the community beginning with the donation of 200 of the original 307 acres by "interested citizens of Pontiac" and community leaders and civic and service organizations have continued to support this institution through their involvement in the founding of model therapy programs, preadolescent services, sheltered workshops, and patient recreation programs; and WHEREAS, the dedication of the past and present cy,..minIsliil!'ors and staff of Clinton Valley Center is responsible for many of the advancements made both at this center and throughout the country in the treatment of mentally ill patients and it has been through their devoted efforts that much human misery has been reduced. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Oakland County Board of Commissioners hereby commends Clinton Valley Center on the occasion of its 100th Birthday and extends its thanks and best wi3hes for continued success to the diligent staff supporting this center whose efforts have greatly contributed to the betterment of our community.
