HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutions - 1977.12.15 - 13114December 15, 1977 RESOLUTION NO. 8280 RE: SEPARATE TAX LIMITATIONS BY: FINANCE COMMITTEE TO: THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS MR. CHAIRMAN, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN: WHEREAS, Act 62 of the Public Acts of 1933, as amended, provides for the adoption of separate tax limitations; and WHEREAS, the Oakland County Tax Allocation Board has, by resolution, initiated a petition to submit separate tax limitations to the electors of the County; and WHEREAS, the Oakland County Clerk has checked the suffi- ciency of the petition and finds that it substantially complies with the provisions of this Act. NOW THEREFORE RE IT RESOLVED that the Oakland County Board of Commissioners shall submit the question of establishing separate tax limitations to the electors of the County of Oakland at the Primary Election to be held on August 8, 1978. The question shall be in substantially the following form: "Shall separate tax limitations be established for an indefinite period, or until altered by the voters of the county, for the County of Oakland, and the townships and school districts within the County, the aggregate of which shall not exceed 16.46 mills as follows: County of Oakland Townships Intermediate school districts School districts (a school district located entirely within a city or charter township shall receive in addition millage equal to the township millage.) Total Mills 5.26 1.41 .25 9.54 16.46" The Finance Committee, by Mr. Paul E. Kasper, Chairman, moves the adoption of the foregoing resolution. Moved by Daly supported by Aaron the resolution be amended in the NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED paragraph by striking the words Primary Election to be held on August 8, 1978" and insert "General Election to be held on November 7, 1978". AYES: Aaron, Daly, DiGiovanni, Doyon. (4) NAYS: Moxley, Patterson, Peterson, Roth, Simson, Wilcox, Fortino, Gabler, Gorsline, Hoot, Kelly, Lanni, McConnell, McDonald, Moffitt, Montante. (16) A sufficient majority not 'having voted therefor, the amendment failed. Vote on resolution: AYES: Patterson, Peterson, Roth, Simson, Wilcox, Aaron, Gabler, Gorsline, Hoot, Kelly, Lanni, McConnell, McDonald, Moffitt, Montante, Moxley. (16) NAYS: None.
