Page, Chairman November 3, 1977 RESOLUTION NO, 6233 RE: TUITION REIMBURSEMENT FOR MEMBERS OF BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS BY GENERAL GOVERNMENT COMMITTEE TO: THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS MR, CHAIRMAN, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN: WHEREAS, your Committee believes that members of the Board of Commissioners should continue to be eligible to be reimbursed for tuition for course that relate to the Commissioner's functions presently performed by him. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that members of the Board of Commissioners shall be eligible for tuition reimbursement upon completion of the following procedures: 1. Tuition reimbursement must be requested by the commissioner in writing on a form available in the Board of Commissioners administrative offices, 2, The Commissioner must indicate how the course is related to the functions presently performed by him as a County Commissioner. 3, The request for tuition reimbursement shall be made to the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners. If the Chairman disapproves the request, the commissioner may appeal to the Board of Commissioners, Such appeal shall be placed before the Board of Commissioners at its meeting next following the disapproval as a special order of business. 4, Fourteen affirmative votes shall be required to reverse the decision of the Chairman and approve the tuition reimbursement. 5. Tuition reimbursement shall not include any other expense such as books, transportation to and from school, meals, lodging, activity or any other fees. 6. Tuition reimbursement shall be limited to amounts provided under Oakland County Merit System Rule 20, Secti-On 5. The General Government Committee, by Robert W, Page, Chairman, moves the adoption of the foregoin resolution, #8239 November 3, 1977 Muved Page supported by Doyon the resolution be adopted. Discussion followed. Moved by Pernick supported by Daly the resolution be referred back to the General Government Committee. AYES: Perinoff, Pernick, Price, Roth, Daly, DiGiovanni, Doyon, Fortino, Kelly, Lanni. (10) NAYS: Patterson, Peterson, Simson, Wilcox, Gabler, Gorsline, Kasper, McConnell, McDonald, Moffitt, Montante, Moxley, Murphy, Olson, Page. (15) A sufficient majority not having voted therefor, the motion failed. Vote on resolution: AYES: Price, DiGiovanni, Gorsline, Kelly, McDonald. (5) NAYS: Perinoff, Pernick, Peterson, Roth, Simson, Wilcox, Daly, poyon, Fortino, Gabler, Kasper, Lanni, McConnell, Moffitt, Montante, Moxley, Murphy, Olson, Page, Patterson. (20) A sufficient majority not having voted therefor, the resolution was not adopted.
