HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutions - 1977.10.11 - 13346Miscellaneous Resolution No. 8200 October 11, 1977 BY: PUBLIC SERVICES COMMITTEE - Henry W, Hoot, Chairman IN RE: AUTHORIZATION TO INVESTIGATE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT AUDIT TO THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS Mr, Chairman, Ladies and Gentlemen: WHEREAS, the Oakland County Audit Division has conducted an audit of the Community Development Division of Oakland County; and WHEREAS, said audit indicates possible infractions or violations of Federal Rules and Regulations, Federal Codes and Acts, and State Lows; and WHEREAS, it appears to be in the best interests of the County to further investigate the findings of the audit and the activities of the Community Development Division, NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Oakland County Board of Commissioners, pursuant to the provisions of Section 6 (k) of Act 139 of the Public Acts of 1973, as amended, directs the Public Services Committee to inquire into and investigate the officiul conduct of the Community Development Division for and on behalf of the Oakland County B,garci of Commissioners and to report back to the Board of Commissioners in writing the findings of said investigation. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Chairman of the Oakland County Board of Commissioners, or in his absence the Vice ChaimIan of the Oakland County Board of Commissioners, pursuant to the provisions of said Section 6 (V) of Act 139 of the Public Acts of 1973, as amended, he authorized to subpoena witnesses and to require the production of books, papers and other evidence for and on behalf of the Oakland County Board of Commissioners, The Public Services Committee, by Henry W. Hoot, Chairman, moves the adoption of the foregoing resolution. PUBLIC SERVICES COMMITTEE #8200 October 11, 1977 Moved by Hoot supported by Price the resolution be adopted. Discussion followed. Moved by Gorsline supported by McConnell the resolution be amended in the NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED paragraph by striking the words "the Public Services Committee" and insert the words "that a five-person special committee be appointed by the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners". Discussion followed. Moved by Olson supported by Montante the resolution be laid on the table until we have a report from the Federal Bureau of Investigation. AYES: Pernick, Peterson, Simson, DiGiovanni, Kasper, Lanni, McDonald, Moffitt, Montante, Moxley, Murphy, Olson, Patterson. (13) NAYS: Price, Wilcox, Aaron, Doyon, Fortino, Gabler, Gorsline, Hoot, Kelly, McConnell. (10) A sufficient majority having voted therefor, the motion carried.
