IN RE: ONE (1) ADDITIONAL DEPUTY POSITION - LAW ENFORCEMENT PATROL SERVICE
AND/OR POLICE - SCHOOLLJAISGNPROGRAM - AVON TOWNSHIP
TO THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
Mr. Chairperson, Ladies and Gentlemen:
WHEREAS it is the policy of the Oakland County Board of Commissioners to
permit the Sheriff Department to enter into contract agreements with townships
for the purpose of Law Enforcement Patrol Service; and
WHEREAS the Oakland County Board of Commissioners by Miscellaneous
Resolution #82043 established the standard annual cost of $42,854 per deputy
for the contract period April 1, 1982 through March 31, 1983 and $48,708 per
deputy for the contract period April 1, 1983 through March 31, 1984; and
WHEREAS the Township of Avon wishes to enter into such an agreement for
the addition of one (1) full time deputy for the purpose of Law Enforcement
Patrol Service and/or police-school liaison for the period October 1, 1982
through March 31, 1984 and renewable annually thereafter at rates established
by this Board.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Oakland County Board of Commissioners
authorize the Chairperson of the Board and the Oakland County Sheriff to enter
into an agreement with the Township of Avon for the addition of one (1) Deputy
for the purpose of Law Enforcement Patrol Services and/or police-school liaison
at the annual cost of $42,854 through March 31, 1983 and at $48,708 for the period
April 1, 1983 through March 31, 1984, consistent with the terms of the attached
agreement.
Mr. Chairperson, on behalf of Public Services Committee, I move the adoption
of the foregoing resolution.

AGREEMENT FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT SERVICES
THIS AGREEMENT made and entered into this 1st Day of October, 1982 by

4. The law enforcement service to be provided by the County shall
consist of furnifh One (1) REGULAR. patrol officer(s) for one 8 hour shift each
day for 5 days or 40 hours per week. The commencement time of the shift is to
be determined by the usual shift stirie on ee ,-1.H.g time established by the

5. The Township agrees to pay for such law enforcement service at the
established yearly rate per patrol officer ce -ereet the attached payment
patrol officer(s) are assigned to the Township. Fractional menths services will
be prorated on a work day basis for the month involved.
6. This 1 year and 6 reeri -e'i7 agreemem` sh.F.'1 be effective October 1,
1982 and shall terminate March 31, 1984, provided that said agreement may be
renewed for agreed contract periods thereafter by the Township, at
rates established by the County, by giving its intentions to renew said agreement
in writing to the County at least 45 days prior to the expiration date. Said
notice is to be sent to the Oakland County Executive and the Oakland County
Sheriff, and be it provided further that either party hereto may elect not to
renew same by giving written notice thereof to the opposite party at least 45
days prior to the expiration date.
7. in the event said Township elects not to renew said Agreement by
giving notice as in Paragraph 6, the Township agrees that if it
estabnes its own police department it will give ce o e o to the

termination of said Agreement, but in no event does the Township agree that it
shall be obligated to hire such pers el.

viewed. Miscellaneous Resolution #82379 and finds that:
1) One (1) Patrol Officer Position be established in the Sheriff
Department - Township Patrol Unit for this contract, effective
October 1, 1982,
2) The 1982 Budget, for the period October 1-December 31, be amended
as follows:
