IN RE: SPECIAL SUPPLEMENTAL FOOD PROGRAM FOR WOMEN, INFANTS AND CHILDREN (W.1.C.)
GRANT APPLICATION RENEWAL
TO THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
Mr. Chairperson, Ladies and Gentlemen:
WHEREAS the Health and Human Resources Committee, in accordance with
the Federal and State grant procedures, has reviewed the Seventh Year Grant
application for the Special Supplemental Food Program for Women, Infants and
Children (WIC); and
WHEREAS the Oakland County WIC program continues to be successful in its
major goals -- to provide nutrition education services and food to needy mothers
and children in Oakland County; and
WHEREAS the WIC program is presently operating with a caseload level
of approximately 5,300 participants; and
WHEREAS subject grant covers a period from October 1, 1982 through
September 30, 1983; and
WHEREAS total funding being applied for is $374,000 of which 100% is
from the United States Department of Agriculture (through the State of Michigan).
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Oakland County Board of
Commissioners authorize the application for the Seventh Year funding in the
amount of $374,000 for the Special Supplemental Food Program for Women, Infants
and Children.
Mr. Chairperson, on behalf of the Health and Human Resources Committee, 1
move the adoption of the foregoing resolution.

IN RE: SPECIAL SUPPLEMENTAL FOOD PROGRAM FOR WOMEN, INFANTS AND CHILDREN
(W.I.C.) GRANT APPLICATION 10/1/82 - 9/30/83
The Finance Committee has reviewed the "Special Supplemental Food Program
for Women, Infants and Children (W.I.C.)" Grant proposal and finds:
1) Said grant is for the seventh year for mothers and their children,
2) Said grant covers a twelve month period from October 1, 1982 to
September 30, 1983,
3) Total grant application is in the amount of $374,000, consisting of
Salaries & Fringes, $299,055; Operating Expenses $56,562; and Indirect
Costs, $18,383,
4) The grant is 100% funded by the State There is no obligation to
the County to continue the program should funding cease,
5) All personnel changes will have to be approved by the Personnel Comgittee.
Mr. Chairperson, on behalf of the Finance Committee, I move the acceptance
of the foregoing report and referral of the information contained therein to the
Health and Human Resources Committee in accordance with Miscellaneous Resolution
#8145, revised "Federal and State Grant Application Procedures".
