IN RE: Legal Counsel to Represent Sheriff in Jail Consent Judgment Litigation
To the Oakland County Board of Commissioners
Mr, Chairperson, Ladies and Gentlemen:
WHEREAS Sheriff Johannes F. Soreen has requested that outside legal counsel be provided
to represent him in the matter of Anthony Yokley et al vs. County of Oakland et al, Civil Action
No, 78-70625, presently pending in Federal District Court; and
WHEREAS Miscellaneous Resolution #8082, adopted July 21, 1977, provides that outside
legal counsel shall be employed only through the Office of Civil Counsel and approved by a
maiority vote of the members of the Board of Commissioners,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Oakland County Board of Commissioners
hereby approves the hiring of private legal counsel to represent the Sheriff in the matter of
Civil Action No 78-70625, pursuant to the policy established in Miscellaneous Resolution
#8082.
Mr. Chairperson, on behalf of the Public Services Committee, I move the adoption of
the foregoing resolution,
