MISCELLANEOUS RESOLUTION 7521
RE: OPPOSITION TO FORCED SCHOOL BUSING
BY: JAMES W. DUN LEAVY, COMMISSIONER, DISTRICT #2
TO -THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
Mr. Chairman, Ladies and Gentlemen:
WHEREAS, forced busing has failed to improve the quality of education; and
WHEREAS, forced busing is disruptive in the communities; and
WHEREAS, the Oakland County Board of Commissioners, while not opposing
quality education, firmly believes that forced busing does not achieve that
NOW THEREFORE BE 11- RESOLVED that the Oakland County Board of
Commissioners opposes forced school busing.

Moved by Dunleavy supported by Fortino the resolution be adopted.
The Chairman referred the resolution to the General Government Committee,
Mr. Price objected.
The Chairman stated it takes 14 votes to sustain the objection.
AYES: Gabler, Hoot, Lennon, McDonald, Patterson, Perinoff, Pernick,
Price, Roth, Simmons, Aaron, Button, Pearborn. (13)
NAYS: Fortino, Kasper, Moffitt, Nowak, Olson, Page, Wilson, Daly,
Dunleavy. (9)
A sufficient majority not having voted therefor, the objection was
not sustained, and the resolution was referred to the General Government
Committee.
