D.,,Irtment advised. Le. Theriff's Department of the fact that no position was available, nor were ,Iergency salary funds available, for retaining th,, ,,,ployee, and that the use of the part-time employee must be terminated; and WHEREAS the Sheriff's Department corrlied in August, 1975 but have, since that time, because of workload, spent. over $16,000 in overtime to adequately cover the communications operation.; and 1.::117,;17A:7, the 1976 projected necessary overtime expenditures for the 7ons Unit of over $16,000 will more than cover the noT cost of one (1) additional budgeted Police. Communications Agent position and should actually result in a. net savings to the County; and WHEREAS the Sheriff's Department has assured the Personnel Committee. that eommunications unit overtime costs, on an annual. basis, will be reduced by at least $14,000 of the projected $16,000 amount if the additional position is granted, NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that one (1) new budgeted Police C,.)wlinic.a.tions Agent be established for the Sheriff's Department with the understanding that the cost of the position will be more than offset by reductions in overtime expenditures, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that due to the significant savings in overtime expenditures, the $7,005 cost for the remainder oT 1976 be transferred from the Overtime Reserve Fund to the appropriate benefit accounts and the Sheriff's Department Salaries Budget. 1 Dennis M.
