IN RE: RESOLUTION OF COMMENDATION AND HONOR -- ADAMS -- PRATT ,LAW- LIBRARY To the Oakland County Board of Commissioners Mr. Chairman, Ladies and Gentlemen: WHEREAS, the Oakland County Law Library has been servicing faithfully the citizens of Oakland County since the Library's beginning in 1904 and is now the largest public law library in the State of Michigan containing over 40,000 volumes, and WHEREAS, the Law Library's growth in size and depth of legal and legal-related materials has brought _it. to the attention of the bus1ness,---leg,c1 and government community in -- the metropolitan areas; and WHEREAS, the Oakland County Law Library, because of its present status and the - expectation for its continued growth may become one of the finest public law libraries throughout the United States; and WHEREAS, Clark J. Adams, former Michigan Supreme Court Justice, former Circuit Judge, former member of the State Legislature, former Legal Advisor to a Michigan Governor and now retired; and Philip Pratt, a former Oakland County Assistant Prosecuting Attorney, former President of the Oakland County Bar Association, former Circuit Court Judge, recently elected to membership in the Fellows of the American Bar Foundation, and presently a Urpited States District Court Judge, have personally played significant rolls in the growth of the -Oakland County Law Library; and WHEREAS, the Honorable Clark J. Adams and Honorable Philip Pratt exemplify the degree of excellence in legal jurisprudence found in the Oakland County Law Library; and WHEREAS, the Oakland County Board of Commissioners commends these two native sons who have brought honor and recognition to the citizens of Oakland County. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that effective May 5, 1976, the Oakland County - Law Library shall be known as the Clark J. Adams - Philip Pratt Oakland County Law Library. IN WITNESS WHEREOF, we have hereunto affixed our signatures and caused the Seal of the County of Oakland to be affixed this 29th day of April, 1976.
