IN RE: ADDITIONAL VEHICLES FOR PARKS & RECREATION DEPARTMENT
TO: THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
Mr. Chairman, Ladies & Gentlemen:
WHEREAS pursuant to Miscallaneous Resolution No. 7393 of December 18,
1975, the Oakland County Board of Commissioners adopted a "County Policy on
Assignment of County Vehicles"; and
WHEREAS the policy for additional vehicles requires the affirmative
recommendation of the County Executive and the approval of the Finance
Committee; and
WHEREAS the policy also states that the Finance Committee shall recommend
to the Board of Commissioners an appropriation sufficient to cover the acquisition
--cost plus monthly lease charges for the balance of the current year; and
WHEREAS there are outside agencies which have in the past and are
presently leasing cars from the Oakland County Garage; and
WHEREAS the Oakland County Board of Commissioners has no budgetary
control over these outside agencies; and
WHEREAS the Oakland County Parks and Recreation Department has made a
request to lease two additional vehicles (pick-up trucks) from the Oakland
County Garage; and
WHEREAS the Finance Committee feels that Section "G" of the County Car
Policy should not apply in this instance.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Commissioners authorize
an expansion of the County Car Fleet for the two vehicles requested by Parks
and Recreation.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that an exception be made to Section "G" of the
County Car Policy and that the funds necessary for the acquisition of these two
vehicles be taken from the Garage Fund.
The Finance Committee, by Lawrence R. Pernick, Chairman, moves the
adoption of the foregoing resolution.
