County are currently trained in advanced - first aid techniques. Inasmuch as the Oakland County EMS Plan called for improved emergency medical care training for police via the Crash Injury Management Program, the Michigan Department of Public Health was approached to determine whether or not seed money could be obtained for a pilot program in Crash. Injury Management. As a result, the Michigan Department of Public Health has offred. Oak- land County $1500 for a pilot program on a. contractual basis. This money is to be used for a program which will serve as a model for the entire state. Training would be offered through the Oakland Police Academy. The funding would pay for physicians, one course coordinator and one practical work instructor, all of whom. would conduct one 40-hour class program. Instructors for the program would be chosen by the EMS Coun- cil's Training Committee.
