Twenty-one employers have submitted contracts for On-The-Job Training programs totalling $140,890.00. This would increase the total amount obligated under OJT to $1,427,746.00. As a re- sult, 47 additional jobs will be created for unemployed persons throughout Oakland County. Phase VIII compares with previous requests as shown in the following statistical table. APPROVED TO DATE PHASE TOTAL VIII ALL PHASES Number of Enrollees Total Contract Costs Average Cost per Enrollee Number of Employers Average per Employer Training Time Average Average Weekly Enrollee Cost 419 47 466 $1,286,856.00 $140,890.00 $1,427,746.00 $3,071.25 $2,997.65 $3,063.83 154 21 175 2.7 Enrollees 2.2 Enrollees 2.7 Enrollees 22.9 Weeks 20.8 Weeks 22.7 Weeks $134.12 $144.11 $134.97 The average training time requested has decreased while costs remain constant re- sulting in higher weekly cost figures. The strong employer interest predicted in December has materialized, along with a strengthening economy. Employers are finding it necessary to expand their staffs while capital is still short. These factors can be expected to accelerate the need for OJT services in the coming months. It is the staff's recommendation that the Public Services Committee approve the contracts as submitted. 1 1 1 COMPANY POSITION NUMBER OE TRAINEES TOTAL Robert Norton Firestone Automobile Service Complete Ins.
