Aaron, Chairman IN RE: MISCELLANEOUS RESOLUTION #7364 - ESTABLISHMENT OF DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN RIGHTS TO THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS Mr. Chairman, Ladies and Gentlemen: The Personnel Committee reports Miscellaneous Resolution #7364 without recommendation. Aaron, Chairman C, Novel.:Ther 20, 75 736C RESOLUTION NC RE: ESTABLISHMENT OF DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN RIGHTS BY: HUBERT PRICE, JR. TO': THE OAKLAND COUNTY HOARD OF COMiviiSSIONERS NR. CHAIRMAN, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN: WHEREAS, Section 1 1;(b) of Act 139 of the Public Acts of 1973, as amended, -provides that the Board of Commissioners may create additional departments; and WHEREAS, the County of Oakland has embarked upon an Affirmative Action Program; and -1- WHEREAS, tc) assure that the Affirmative Action Program is 4 ietlemm ,i-LertIteci, a Department of Human Rights should be created; and WHEREAS, the Department of Human Rights should have a staff of six members, including the Director, and sufficient finds operate the Department. _ NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that Dursuant to Section 14(b) of Act 139 of the Public Acts of 1973, as amended, a Dcr',artment of Human Rights be created. A sufficient majority having voted therefor, the motion carried. Moved by Price supported by Daly the resolution be referred to the Personnel Committee and the committee hold the necessary Public Hearing. Mr. Gabler objected. Discussion followed. Vote on referral: AYES: Olson, Perinoff, Pernick, Price, Roth, Simmons,•Wiison,.Aaron, Button, Daly, Dearborn, Douglas, Fortino, Lennon. (14) NAYS: Montante, Patterson, Dunleavy, Gabler, Hoot, Houahteb, Kasper.
