MG DAVID LEVINSON David Levinson, a former member of this Board, passed away on April 27, 1976, at the age of 80 years following a long illness. He was a life-long resident of Oakland County, having resided at 2150 Northlawn in Birmingham, Michigan. He was appointed to the Oakland County Board of Supervisors in 1933 and served consecutively for a record 36 straight years before retiring from the Board in December of 1968. He was Chairman of the Board in 1940-41, and served as Chairman of the Ways and Means Committee for over a dozen years, and was a member and Chairman of the Employee Retirement Commission. Dave Levinson's foresight and business acumen was the guiding force that resulted in the purchase of some 550 acres which is now the County Service Center, serving the governmental needs of some 1,000,000 citizens. He believed that County Government should pay as you go in the contruction of County facilities and many of the present buildings at the Service Center and the South Oakland County site were constructed from general County funds without additional burden to the taxpayer. His keen financial know-how was invaluable in the preparation of balanced County budgets, and his insight of anticipating the needs of a growing County Government and providing for them within the limits of fiscal responsibility served as a model for many counties in the State of Michigan. Dave Levinson attended Oakland County schools and was graduated from the University of Michigan. He was a member of the Master Appraisers Institute, American Institute of Appraisers and the Real Estate Appraisers, His Club affiliations included the Elks Lodge, American Legion and the Birmingham Exchange. He was a former Trustee of Camp Oakland and of Oakland University -. He is survived by his widow, Marie;, son, Bernard M.; daughter-In-law, Mary Ellen; grandsons, John, David and Richard; brother, H.Y.; and sister, Mrs. Saul R. Levin, Dave Levinson was a leader, humanitarian and gave unselfishly of his time and '- resources in the interests of all of the citizens of our community. He will be long remembered by all who have been privileged to know him, Mr. Chairman, I move that the foregoing resolution be spread upon the minutes of this meeting and that a certified copy, affixed with the Seal of the County of Oakland, be forwarded to the surviving wife Marie and son Bernard, SPECIAL MEMORIAL CONVOITTE :„
