IN RE: OPPOSITION TO S. B. 154 - STATE FINANCING OF DISTRICT COURTS
TO THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
Mr. Chairman, Ladies and Gentlemen:
WHEREAS proposed legislation as contained in S. B. 154 would provide for the
State to take over the control of the District Courts; and
WHEREAS your Committee recommends opposition to S. B. 154 for reasons that it
believes the State will not assume 100% financing of District Courts and that the counties
will still have to assume some financial responsibility;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Oakland County Board of Commissioners
hereby opposes S. B. 154 as not being in the best interests of the County.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that certified copies of the foregoing resolution be for-
warded to the County's Legislators and to the County Legislative Agent.
The General Government Committee, by Henry W. Hoot, Chairman, moves the
adoption of the foregoing resolution.

The Chairman announced pursuant to Rule XI-E the matter shall be laid over to
the next regular Board meeting.

Moved by Hoot supported by Button that resolution #7021 be adopted.
Discussion followed.
The Chairman requested Daniel T. Murphy, County Executive, to address the Board.
Mr. Murphy addressed the Board.
A sufficient majority having voted therefor, the resolution was adopted.
