IN RE: TRANSFER OF 8 C,E,T.A, POSITIONS FROM PARKS & RECREATION
TO SECURITY DIVISION OF CENTRAL SERVICES
TO THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS

Wi--lElEAS the Personnel Committee has reviewed, rV 7 '7 members of the
Dooartment of Parks and Recreation and the County Sccurit..• 1ii•••:7-n, the concepts of
equipping and assigning Security Officers to County operated Parks; and
WHEREAS the cHinge can be made within the C. E.T. A, Title VI funds
available to the County;
NOW TblEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that eight (8) C.E.T. A. Title VI Laborer
positions be d,:lel.ed from those assigned to the and Recreation Commission, and
(8) C. E. T, A. Title VI S r position:- 'a the Securily
of ent of Central Services.
The Personnel Committee, by Paul E. Kasper, Chairman, moves the adoption of the
foregoing resolution,

Moved by Kasper supported by Montante the resolution be adopted.
Moved by Button supported by Hoot the resolution be amended by adding: "Be
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Oakland County Board of Commissioners hereby expresses
and communicates its strong desire that the members of the Parks and Recreation
Commission give their full and serious consideration to the use of non-lethal
weapons in Oakland County Parks during the daylight hours."
Discussion followed.
A sufficient majority having voted therefor, the motion carried.
Moved by Wilson supported by Price the resolution be amended: "The Board
of Commissioners mandate to the Security Officers that at no time during the day
light hours will they carry lethal weapons while patroling the parks".
Discussion followed.

NAYS: Wilcox, Button, Coy, Dearborn, Douglas, Dunleavy, Gabler, Houghten,

A sufficient majority not having voted therefor, the motion fails.

A sufficient majority having voted therefor, the resolution, as amended,
was adopted.
