Mr. Chairman, Ladies and Gentlemen:
The Planning and Building Committee reports Miscellaneous Resolution
#7015 with the recommendation that said resolution be adopted.
The Planning and Building Committee, by Patrick M. Nowak, Chairman,
moves the acceptance of the foregoing report.

RESOLUTION NO. 7015
RE: MERGER OF DRAIN OFFICE AND
DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS

TO: THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
NR. CHAIRMAN, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN:
WHEREAS, Act 40 of the Public Acts of 1956, as amended by
Act 170 of the Public Acts of 1974, permits the merger and con-
solidation of the Office of County Drain Commissioner and the
Department of Public Works into one department headed by an
elected public works commissioner; and
WHEREAS, the undersigned commissioners believe that Act
40 should be amended to permit a county operating pursuant to the
provisions of Act 139 of the Public Acts of 1973, as amended, to
either elect the public works commissioner or appoint a public
works commissioner.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Oakland County Board
of Commissioners urges the State legislature to amend Act 40 of the
Public Acts of 1956, as amended, to permit a county operating
pursuant to the provisions of Act 139 of the Public Acts of 1973,
as amended, the option, through its board of commissioners, to
appoint a public works commissioner.
MR. CHAIRMAN, we move the adoption of the foregoing
resolution.

Moved by Nowak supported by Roth the resolution be adopted.
The Chairman referred the resolution to the General Government Committee.
There were no objections.
The Chairman announced pursuant to :Rule Xl-E the matter shall be
laid over to the next regular Board meeting.
