IN RE: EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES AMENDMENT
TO THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
Mr. Chairman, Ladies and Gentlemen:
WHEREAS, the Oakland County Board of Commissioners established the Oakland
County Emergency Medical Services Council (June 6, 1974, Res. #6713) to develop
an EMS Plan for Oakland County; and
WHEREAS, the Oakland County Board of Commissioners established the EMS
Division on August 8, 1974 (Res. #6786) to assist in the development and implementation
of an EMS Plan; and
WHEREAS, the EMS Council and the EMS Division have developed the EMS Plan
for Oakland County; and
WHEREAS, the Oakland County Board of Commissioners has approved such Plan; and
WHEREAS, the City of Southfield has recommended an amendment to the Plan; and
WHEREAS, the Executive Committee of the Oakland County EMS Council has
approved such amendment to the Plan; and
WHEREAS, The Public Services Committee of the Oakland County Board of
Commissioners has reviewed the proposed amendment and favors said amendment.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Oakland County Board of Commissioners
amend Page 20, Section B of the EMS Plan to read:
"In order to evaluate evolving advanced life support systems, a demonstration
program providing advance techniques is recommended. The City of Southfield
and other advanced emergency medical services systems shall provide a research
and development element and shall continue to act in this capacity as a training
resource for the County of Oakland in terms of providing actual experience in
advanced EMS Techniques."
The Public Services Committee, by James W. Dunleavy, Chairman, move,s the
adoption of the foregoing resolution.
