Gabler, Jr., Chairman TO: THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS MR. CHAIRMAN, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN: WHEREAS, Act 167 of the Public Acts of 1970, as amended, requires all watercraft having a marine toilet to be so equipped as to preclude overboard discharge of sewage into waters of the State; and WHEREAS, recently proposed Federal regulations (which would supersede State requirements) would permit overboard discharge of sewage with minimal pre-treatment (macerator chlorinator devices) thereby causing a health hazard and pollution problems. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Oakland County Board of Commissioners supports the present State policy of no overboard discharge of sewage from watercraft into waters of the State, County and the Great Lakes and connecting waterways under the jurisdiction of the State. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Oakland County Board of Commissioners endorses the principal of the right of the State, where due concern exists, to establish more stringent standards than the Federal government. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Oakland County Board of Commissioners opposes the implementation in the aforementioned waters of the new Federal regulations. The Human Resources Committee, by Mr. Wallace F. Gabler, Jr., Chairman, moves the adoption of the foregoing resolution. 7124 #7124 Moved by Gabler supported by Coy that resolution #7124 be adopted.
