HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutions - 1975.06.05 - 14690Miscellaneous Resolution 7153 June 5, 1975 - By: Henry W. Hoot • IN RE: ESTABLISHMENT OF COMMITTEE - TO PLAN FUTURE SITE OF POLICE ACADEMY. TO THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS Mr. Chairman, Ladies and Gentlemen: - Whereas, the training of qualified police officers is of utmost concern, and Whereas, the Oakland County Board of Commissioners has previously gone on record as supporting county involvement to provide a permanent police training facility, and Whereas, the Planning and Building Committee has been unable to act on this matter, Now therefore be it resolved that the Planning and Building Committee be discharged of the responsibility of considering this subject,- and " ,Be it further resolved that a bipartisan committee be formed of the following commissioners: Henry W, Hoot, Lawrence H. Pernick, Mary M. Dearborn and Bernard F. Lennon. Be it further resolved that this committee shall be soley charged with the responsibility of recommending to the Board of Commissioners a plan for the providin of a. permanent police training facility and that•-this recommendation be made within 90 days. 111153 Moved by Hoot supported by Lennon the resolution be adopted. Moved by Hoot supported by Perinoff the rules be suspended for immediate consideration of the resolution, AYES: Olson, Perinoff, Pernick, Price, Roth, Simmons, Wilson, Aaron, Button, Daly, Dearborn, Douglas, Fortino, Hoot, Lennon. (15) NAYS: Moffitt, Montante, Nowak, Page, Patterson, Wilcox, Dunleavy, Gabler, Houghten, Kasper, McDonald. (11) A sufficient majority not having voted therefor, the motion lost. Discussion followed. Moved by Gabler supported by Daly the Chairman of the Oakland County Board of Commissioners shall appoint a 5 person Bi-Partisan Special Committee to specifically study and report to said Board of Commissioners the establishment of a Police Academy. A sufficient majority having voted therefor, the motion carried. The Chairman referred the resolution to the General Government Committee. There were no objections,
