HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutions - 1975.11.06 - 14816November 6, 1975 RESOLUTION NO. 7340 RE: RE-ENACTMENT OF FEDERAL REVENUE SHARING BY: TO: THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS MR. CHAIRMAN, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN: WHEREAS, the current Federal Revenue Sharing Program ex- pires on December 31, 1976; and WHEREAS, the County of Oakland has received, since the inception of revenue sharing in January of 1972 through June 30, 1975, the sum of 8,420,985.00. Those funds have been used for the following County programs: County Hospital Court Appointed Attorneys State Institutions (Mental Health Programs) Juvenile Maintenance (Foster Homes, etc.) Juvenile Court (Children's Village and other programs to rehabilitate delinquent and neglected children) Law Library County Library Board Various storm drain public improvement projects Camp Oakland Medical Examiner and WHEREAS, the 1976 Federal Revenue Sharing Funds equals 5.55% of the 1976 County Budget; and WHEREAS, it is anticipated that the 1977 revenue sharing will be approximately the same per cent of the County Budget; and WHEREAS, to offset the loss of Federal Revenue Sharing Funds, the County would have to raise .46% of a mill or it will be neces- sary for the County of Oakland to curtail or eliminate many programs to the detriment of the residents of Oakland County and more par- ticularly, the low-income groups. 1HEPErAPPROVETHT 70REGONG RESOLUTION ,DitoaelT. Muiphy; 'Dates' NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the County of Oakland urges the Congress of the United States to re-enact Federal Revenue Sharing by the First Session of the 94th Congress. Fred D.
