Murphy, County Dania
„Nowak, Chairman
Miscellaneous Resolution 7354 November 20, 1975
BY: PLANNING AND BUILDING COMMITTEE - Patrick M. Nowak, Chairman
IN RE: LEASING OF COUNTY OWNED PERRY STREET PROPERTY TITLED
"OLD 4-H GROUNDS"
TO THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
Mr. Chairman, Ladies and Gentlemen:
WHEREAS the County of Oakland owns 18 acres more or less of
property that is part of the East 1-half of the NE quarter of Sec. 15
town 3 N, range 10 E, City of Pontiac, Michigan, lying Easternly of M-24
Highway; and
WHEREAS there is one block building and one quonset hut structures
on the property; and
WHEREAS the Furniture Resources Center is located in the building; and
WHEREAS the remaining property stands vacant; and
WHEREAS the Township of Pontiac has expressed an interest in the
use of the property as follows:
1. Building - Partial use for storage (bicycles, voting machines, confiscated
goods), the balance more than likely would be for recreational type use
with perhaps the establishment of one of the Township offices in the facility.
2. Grounds - There is a dire need for recreational grounds within the community,
and one of the primary uses of the area would be for the establishment of
baseball diamonds for little league. Perhaps a football field for little
league type use could be constructed, although presently there is not an
organized little league for football within the Township.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED the Oakland County Board of Commissioners
authorizes the Oakland County Executive to proceed with negotiating a lease
with the Township of Pontiac of the property located at M-24 Highway, Pontiac,
Michigan, for the purpose of recreational area and storage with the possibility
of locating a Township office in the facility.
The Planning and Building Committee, by Patrick M. Nowak, Chairman,
moves the adoption of the foregoing resolution.
