IN RE: COST STUDY ON CONDUCTING AN UPDATED FEDERAL DECENNIAL CENSUS
TO THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD a COMMISSIONERS
Mr. Chairman, Ladies and Gentlemen
WHEREAS, the County of Oakland has had unprecedented population growth
since the last Federal Dicennial Census, and
WHEREAS, the State and Federal Revenue Sharing Programs are determined in
part by the population as shown by the last Federal Dicennial Census, and
WHEREAS, the County may be losing revenue because the population figure
does not reflect actual population of the County, and
WHEREAS, the feasibility of conducting a special Federal Dicennial Census
should be studied.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the County Executive be requested to
conduct an investigation and make a report back to this Board of Commissioners as to the
cost of such Census and the benefits to be derived from a special census.
Mr. Chairman, I move the adoption of the foregoing resolution.
