Dunleavy IN RE: ASSESSED VALUATION TO THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSiONERS Mr. Chairman, Ladies and Gentlemem WHEREAS the 1963 Mic.hig-an Constitution provides that real property shall not be assessed at a rate exceeding 5 of its value; and WHEREAS the present State law requires the assessment of property at 50%, which in many cases will assess properties in excess of 50%; and WHEREAS Representative Darnman has proposed an amendment to the General Property Tax Act establishing the assessed valuation percentage at no more than li.gli,",:$4n1 and no less than 46%; and WHEREAS this Board of Commissioners should support such proposal for the ensuing tax year and work to achieve an assessment rate at 45% with a 10% variance; NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Oakland County Board of Commissioners with a supports legislation that would establish the assessed valuation percentage a variance providing an assessment range of no less than 46% nor more than 50% for this year. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Oakland County Board of Commissioners request the Legislators, upon reconvening in 1974, to establish the assessed valuation percentage at 45% with a 10% variance. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this resolution be forwarded to the Michigan Association of Counties for their concurrence. MR.
