REGULAR ELECTION - MAY 2, 2006
STATEMENT OF VOTES
FARMINGTON PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICT
The whole number of votes given for and against the OPERATING MILLAGE PROPOSAL
This proposal would reauthorize the levy of mills by the Farmington Public School District for general
operating purposes which expires with the 2006 levy, and would restore the authority reduced through
application of the Headlee Amendment to the Michigan Constitution. Under this proposal, due to current
enrollment projections and statutory exemptions, the District would be authorized to levy no more than
13.5735 mills on principal residences (also known as homestead property or owner-occupied homes),
and up to 18 mills on non-homestead property (commercial, industrial and residential rental property), the
combination of which would allow the School District to receive the revenues permitted by law.
As a restoration of the previously approved millage authorization which expires with the 2006 tax levy,
shall the limitation on the amount of tax upon taxable property in the Farmington Public School District,
Oakland County, Michigan be increased by 18.00 mills ($18.00 per $1,000 of taxable value) for five (5)
years, the years 2007 to 2011, inclusive, to provide funds for operating expenses of the District? Of the
18 mill authorization, (i) 17.9388 mills represent a renewal of current authority, (ii) 0.0612 mill represents
a restoration of authority reduced through application of the Headlee Amendment and (iii) no more than
13.5735 mills ($13.5735 per $1,000 of taxable value) would continue to be permitted under existing law to
be levied on homestead and qualified agricultural property. If approved, this millage would raise an
estimated $54,238,000 for the District in 2007.
