Nowak, Dist. #25 and James DunIcavy, Dist. #2 TAXATION OF PROPERTY OWNED BY UNIT OF GOVERNMENT BY: IN RE: TO THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS Mr. Chairman, Ladies and Gentlemen: WHEREAS the taxpayers of the whole of Oakland County have been uniustly subsidizing the City of Dearborn and its taxpayers as a result of the removal of the property known as Camp Dearborn from the tax rolls of Oakland County, and WHEREAS the removal of said property results in a loss of an estimated $imillion dollars of property values lost to the tax rolls of Oakland County,ancl WHEREAS said Camp Dearborn is operated primarily for the benefit of Dearborn residents who pay a nominal fee for entry to said park, and WHEREAS non-Dearborn residents are required to pay a substantially higher fee and are otherwise discriminated against in the use of said property, and WHEREAS Camp Dearborn therefore is not truly a public park. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Oakland County Board of Commissioners request the Legislature and the Governor to enact into law statutes that would prohibit the removal from the tax rolls of one unit of government property owned and operated by a different unit of government primarily for the use of its citizens. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Oakland County Board of Commissioners request that all Legislators representing Oakland County be asked to co-sponsor legislation to accomplish this purpose in both Houses of the Michigan Legislature. Mr. Chairman, we move the adoption of the foregoing resolution. Moved by Nowak supported by Dunleavy the resolution be referred to the Legislative Committee and the Local Government and Equalization Committee. There were no objections,
