Mr. Chairman, Ladies and Gentlemen:
The Local Government & Equalization Committee reports Misc. Resolution #6688,
with the recommendation that said resolution be adopted.
The Local Government and Equalization Committee, by Donald C. Quinn, Chairman,
moves the acceptance of the foregoing report.

Miscellaneous Resolution 6688 May 16, 1974

IN RE: OPPOSITION TO REGIONAL FORM OF GOVERNMENT
AS PROPOSED TO REPLACE SEMCOG
TO THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
Mr, Chairman, Ladies and Gentlemen:
WHEREAS it is in the best interests of the citizens of Oakland County to maintain
their local government autonomy; and
WHEREAS Metropolitan Fund, Inc, has proposed and advocates that the seven-county
region organization now known as the Southeastern Michigan Counc-,il of Governments
(SEMCOG), become another level of government to be known as a regional government
unit; and
WHEREAS a regional government would take away responsibilities and duties of
local government and endanger individual citizens rights and prerogatives;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Oakland County Board of Commissioners,
composed of elected representatives of all of the people of Oakland County, hereby
opposes the regional farm of government as proposed.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that certified copies of the foregoing resolution be
forwarded to the County's Congressional and State Legislators urging them to oppose any
proposed legislation that establishes another form or level of government.
Mr, Chairman, I move the adoption of the Forego i ng Resolution.
Moved by Dunleavy supported by Vogt the resolution he referred to
Local Government and Eualization Committee. There were no objections,

Moved by Quinn supported by Dunleavy the -report be accepted. '
A sufficient majority having voted therefor, the :motion carried.
Moved by Hoot supported by Quinn that Resolution #6688 be adopted.
