TO THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD CF COMMISSIONERS
Mr. Chairila ,,, Ladies and Gentlemen:
WHEREAS the Security Unit of the Department of Facilities and Operations
from three emp'o: TiH 1967 . rrent staff of 24; and
WHEREAS the size of this unit will increase even further due to requests for security
coverage from the Airport„ the Parks and Recreation Department and the Department of
Public Works; and
V-1..H.A.:7 the wo,k of the Security Unit has broadened to include a considerable
amount of sc:fF:-.- work in cooperation with the Centiol Services Division;
WHEREAS the position of Chief Security Officer is about to become 'vacant due to
retirement and the position of Assistant Chief Security Officer is vacant due to resignation;
and
WHEREAS a comparison of the current County or these positions with the
salaries or ble positions in other County Departments and in pri -,.'ate employment
indicates thct current County salaries are too low to attract with the quantity
and quality of experience and trainin i : -eel;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the folk,.

Mr. Chairman, Ladies and Gentlemen:
The Finance Committee has reviewed and with the Salary Adjustments
proposed Tn subject resolution; and further, that the necessary funds will be derived
from Non-Budgeted sources,

Moved by Kasper supported by Richardson :the report be accepted and Resolution
#6665 be adopted.
Discussion followed.
Moved by Olson supported by Burley the resolution be referred to the Public
Protections and Judiciary Committee. .
M. Gabler moved that the resolution be laid on the table until a time certain.
No support.
Mr. Kasper requesed that Daniel T. Murphy, County Executive and Chairman of the
Board of Auditors be allcoA to address the Board on this subject. There were no
objections. Mr. MurpL7 Fressed the Board.

Mr. Lennon moved the previous question. Supported by Mr. Quinn.
Mr. Gabler moved the referral be laid on the table. No support.
The Chairman stated tho in favor of calling the previous question, say Aye,
and those opposed, say No. The vote was as follows:

A sufficient majority having voted therefor, the Chairman called for a vote
on the referral. The vote was as follows:

A sufficient majority not having voted therefor, the motion failed.
