Mr. Chairperson, Ladies and
WHEREAS the tragedy of death by fire is a problem c• ial concern and
magnitude; and
WHEREA`: detection devices and fire pre%aa-'3 • )terns
are known to deter unnecessary tragedies, especially in puL;;c hotels; and
WHEREAS public awareness can be enhanced by programs encouraging more
WHEREAS mar.: oipalities have no local aades or ordinances
such install. ,:ons in new constr..;
WLEAS this county is :a the state of growth and development, anticipating
construction of more large hotels and public ,.-..n!',.-)i.,1ments to accommodate the
Silverdome, the Superbowl, and other ottrac'
NOW THTREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Oakland County
Commissioners does encourage its several local communities to ordinaaces
requiring installation of fire safety devices and fire suppressarr in all new
public facility construction and eH;:l public bvik..iinH.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that all loco! ca,mrnunities be encouraged to foster
public cr.,val-eaes programs of fire related deaths in private homes, such prarar.-.s
be in c with and supportive of fire fighter groups and insurance companies
in their respective 4-.7::ities.
