Dunleavy IN RE: ASSESSED VALUATION • TO THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS Mr. Chairman, Ladies and Gentlemem WHEREAS the 1963 Michigan Constitution provides that real property shall not be assessed at a rate exceeding 50% of its value; and WHEREAS the present State law requires the assessment of property at 50%, which in many cases will assess properties in excess of 50%.;. and WHEREAS Representative Damman has proposed an amendment to the General Property Tax Act establishing the assessed valuation percentage at no more than and no less than 46%; and WHEREAS this Board of Commissioners should support such proposal for the ensuing tax year and work to achieve an assessment rate at 45% with a 10% variance;- NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Qal-dand County Board of Commissioners supports legislation that would establish the assessed valuation percentage at 48% with a variance providing an assessment range of no less than 46% nor more than 50% for this year BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Oakland County Board of Commissioners request the Legislators, upon reconvening in 1974, to establish the assessed valuation percentage at 45% with a 10% variance. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this resolution be forwarded to the • Michigan Association of Counties for their concurrence. MR.
