Pursuant to statute, I am notifying your office of the amendments adoption (with copy of certification) and have also enclosed a copy of the Governor's letter approving submission on the charter amendment to the vote of the people. Hazel Park, MI 48030 . 313-546-7000 CHARTER AMENDMENT-MEET1NG OF BOARD OF REVIEW -QUESTION; Shall Chapter IX, Section 9.8 of the City Charter be amended to change the meeting dates of the 89 1-1,143 28 A9 :1'4 ard of Review? STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This amendment changes meeting dates of the Board of Review from April to March to provide for the timely completion of the Assessment Roll. PRESENT LANGUAGE OF SECTION 9.8: Section 9.9 The Board of Review shall meet on the third Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday in April and on the fourth ' Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday in April in each year at such time and place as shall be designated by the Council. The Board shall continue in session for at least six (6) hours of each day that it is in session and on the fourth Tuesday in April it shall be in session between 7:00 o'clock and 9:00 o'clock in the evening_ No assessment shall be changed in any way except by a motion or resolution regularly put and adopted by a majority of the members of said Board, which motion or resolution shall state the amount at which the assessment is fixed as reviewed by,the Board. Each day's proceedings of said board shall be read, approved and signed by the chairman thereof. At the conclusion of the review of said roll, said Board shall prepare a signed statemeht,------- showing the amount in gross and the additions or deductions made in total of the assessed valuations of the real and personal property made by them, and shall approve and endorse said roll in the manner required by state law for the approval and endorsement of assessment rolls in townships. No person other than the Board of Review shall make any change upon or additions or corrections to said roll. PROPOSED LANGUAGE OF SECTION 9.8; • On the Tuesday immediately following the first Monday in March, the Board of Review sriall meet at the office of the assessor. The Board of Review shall also meet at the office of the assessor on the second Monday in March at 9:00 a.m. and continue in session during the day as well as the next following Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and the following Monday, meeting from 9:00 a.m, until at least 4:00 p.m. and for not less than six (6) hours per day. Sessions shall be held on that successive Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 900 p.m. No assessment shall be changed in any way except by a motion or resolution regularly put and adopted by a majority of the members of said Board, which motion or resolution shall state the amount at which the assessment is fixed as reviewed by the Board.
