HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutions - 1972.03.15 - 15858Miscellaneous Resolution 5970 BY: Mr. Kasper and Mrs. Simson IN RE: WORK PROGRAM FOR ABLEBODIED AID RECIPIENTS March 16, 1972 TO THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS Mr. Chairman, Ladies and Gentlemen: WHEREAS the County is responsible for providing certain welfare assistance separate and apart from State and Federal welfare assistance; and WHEREAS many of those receiving County welfare assistance are ablebodied and employable; and WHEREAS it is desirable to establish responsibility for such County assistance from both the County and the recipient; and WHEREAS a desirable manner of exercising responsibility on the part of the recipients would be to offer their services in some type of minimal County employment program in return for such assistance; and WHEREAS the County is authorized in requiring minimal employment of the ablebodied welfare recipi ents as a condition to their continuing to receive County welfare assistance; and WHEREAS the Oakland County Board of Commissioners Human Resources Committee has unanimously supported State legislation which embodies this type of program for County welfare assistance; NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Oakland County Board of Commissioners present a plan for such an employment program and urge the Oakland County Social Services Board to adopt such a policy. MR. CHAIRMAN, I move that the foregoing resolution be referred to the Human Resources Committee. The resolution was referred to the Huma4Aesources Committee. There were no object ions..
