HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutions - 1972.10.10 - 159316140 Miscellaneous Resolution October 10, 1972 BY: LEGISLATIVE COMMITTEE - Marguerite Simson, Chairman IN RE: SUPPORT H.B. 4669 - POWERS AND DUTIES OF BOARDS OF COMMISSIONERS, WITH AMENDMENTS TO THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS Mr. Chairman, Ladies and Gentlemen: WHEREAS your Legislative Committee has reviewed in detail House Bill 4669 and would be supportive of it provided it were amended as follows: Page 2, line 5 -From: "commissioners elected and serving" To: "commissioners elected and present" Page 2, lines 10-12 - From: "No votes shall: be taken by secret ballot except when voting for chairman or vice chairman of the board . . ." 1 To: "No votes shall be taken by secret ballot except when voting for chairman or vice chairman of the board a secret ballot may be taken." Page 3 = DELETE the last sentence, which reads: "No commissioner, during the term he is elected a member of such board, shall be eligible to election or appointment to any other county office or position, the election or appointment of which is within the jurisdiction of such board of commissioners." NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Oakland County Board of Commissioners hereby supports House Bill 4669, with the amendments set forth above, and that certified copies of this resolution be forwarded to the Oakland County Legislators. The Legislative Committee, by Marguerite Simson, Chairman, moves the adoption of the foregoing resolution. A hill to amend section 3 of Act No. 156 of the Public Acts of 1851, entitled as amended "An act to define the powers and duties of the boards of commissioners of the several counties, and to confer upon them certain, local, administrative and legislative powers; and to prescribe penalties for the violation of the provisions of this act," as amended by Act No. 5 of the Public Acts of 1969, being section 46,3 of the Compiled Lows of 1948, THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT: Section 1, Section 3 of Act No, 156 of the Public 2 Acts of 1851, as amended by Act No. 5 of the Public Acts 3 of 1969, being section 46.3 of the Compiled Laws of 1948, 4 is amended to read as 'follows: 1844 '71 2 H. 4669 COMMISSIONERS 1 Sec. 3.
