Mr. Chairman, Ladies and Gentlemen:
The Transportation and Aviation Committee, by Niles E. Olson, Chairman,
reports Miscellaneous Resolution #5805, with the recommendation that said resolution
be adopted.
The Transportation and Aviation Committee, by Niles E. Olson, Chairman, moves
the acceptance of the foregoing report.

IN RE: STRIKE THREATS IN THE TRANSPORTATION INDUSTRY
TO THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
Mr. Chairman, Ladies and Gentlemen:
WHEREAS, there is an obvious need for reform of our basic labor taws to cope
with recurring strike threats in the transportation industry; and
WHEREAS, Congress has been required to pass special legislation on three
separate occasions in the last 18 months to extend railroad strike deadlines; and
WHEREAS, Congress has taken no action to avert threatened transportation
strikes;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Oakland County Board of
Commissioners supports with vigor S. B. 560 embodying recommendations made by
President Nixon to avert such strikes in the transportation industry.
MR. CHAIRMAN, I move the adoption of the foregoing resolution and that
certified copies thereof be forwarded to the Honorable Richard M. Nixon, President
of the United States; the Honorable John A. Volpe, Secretary of Transportation,
United States Senators Robert P. Griffin and Philip A. Hart and Congressmen
William S. Broomfield and Jack H. McDonald.

Moved by Olson supported by Gabler the report be accepted
and that Resolution #5805 be adopted.
The Chairman referred the resolution to the Legislative Committee.
